But it was his interest in mind/body medicine that drew him into Acupuncture at the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine-San Diego.
Josh currently holds a Masters in Traditional Oriental Medicine (MSTOM) and is a California Board-Certified Licensed Acupuncturist.

He has worked as an acupuncturist at Rady Children’s Hospital, Senior Clinic of San Diego, and at San Diego Cosmetic Acupuncture.  He is trained in Cosmetic Acupuncture by Virginia Doran and East Haradin LAc.

The demand for microneedling continues to grow as more people are discovering it to be a safer and more effective alternative to lasers and chemical peels.

Hear From Past Students!

"The material was interesting and delivered very well. Easy to understand and a lot of information!" - Amy R.
"I love how they researched every product and serum on the market and compared their pros and cons. I feel like I was given enough info to know how I wanted to tailor my treatments to my patients." - James S.
"It has been 1 month since the lecture. I bought the AcuMicro Plus and serums kit to use at my clinic. It has already paid for itself twice over! I already have 7 patients signed up for monthly Microneedling packages. I can't believe more Acupuncturists don't know they can easily incorporate this into their practice and bring in a whole new demographic. Great information, great class!" - Megan R.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this workshop include a certificate?
Yes, you'll receive a certificate plus 20% off of AcuMicro products for life!
Are we being trained in using a machine like the Dermapen microneedling system ?
Yes, the live workshop includes hands-on training with a microneedling pen system—a Class 2 medical device. According to insurance and the Acupuncture board, it is in our scope of practice to learn and use this device.
What kind of products/equipment will be available for purchase?
Everything from AcuMicro will be available for purchase the day of the workshop for 40% off! Please review the site before the workshop to get an idea of products and pricing. We will be learning and training with all the products and serums from the website and will be learning how to make our own TCM topical formulas to use as well.
If I'm currently a student but not a licensed acupuncturist, can I still take this workshop?
Yes, this workshop is for acupuncturists AND students!  As students you can legally do nanoneedling while still in school. Nanoneedling uses the same AcuMicro pen as microneedling but has a tip that does NOT puncture the skin. As an acupuncturist taking the course you must provide your own insurance (and send a copy). As a student you are covered by your school and must provide a student ID card. Please take note that while nanoneedling has no restrictions and students may practice modality; I do not recommend doing so without first looking into malpractice insurance.
How long will I have access to the workshop content?
You'll be able to access the content indefinitely so you can come back to the material if you need a refresher or want to reference parts of the workshop.
Can estheticians do this treatment?
No, unfortunately not due to the fact that this procedure pierces the skin. In 2018, California decided that estheticians can no longer do this procedure. In response, there is a large opening for acupuncturists and MD’s provide this service!
How much can I charge for this treatment in my practice?
Acupuncturists typically charge between $250-$550 on average for this treatment. This is based on averages found on realself.com. Treatments typically take between 20-40 minutes to complete.
Are there any discounts for the workshop?
For each person that signs up from you, you get a $100 gift certificate to AcuMicro.com. This goes a long way the day of the workshop since all participants receive 40% off all products from AcuMicro.com!
I've seen these pens at Walmart. What are the differences?
Be very very careful when buying a pen from an outside source. This is a Class 2 medicial device and should NOT be sold to the general public. There are many companies making cheap replicas of these pens which many of them do not oscillate and simply vibrate to allow estheticians to still legally use them. (Not ethically I might add).

Be very wary if a company does not ask for your professional license or student status. We are sponsored by AcuMicro and I personally like their pens, pricing, and warranties. We will go over and show different pens in the workshop. There is no pressure to buy from AcuMicro. We simply want you to have all the information to make the safest and best educated decision to incorporate microneedling into your practice.
How does this differ from Dermarolling? Will Dermarolling be covered in the workshop?
We will be going over the differences in the class but in short, using a microneedling pen differs greatly from Dermarolling. Rolling creates wells in the skin and can be done by patients at home. Microneedling is a treatment that must be performed by a licensed professional. It creates direct channels in the skin and has exponentially greater results.
What kind of treatments will we be learning using Microneedling ?
We will be learning how to treat wrinkles, acne, sagging skin, age spots, scarring, and hair regeneration!
Will this workshop incorporate TCM?
Yes, we will go over TCM principals of microneedling.  We'll also be creating our own in-class facial rejuvenation herbal topicals (A TCM herbal facial rejuvenation Microneedling spray and a TCM herbal hair rejuvenation topical).
